MHT Potpourri 2023

Zachary Singer
At the April 20 CCASM meeting Dr. Zachary Singer provided an overview of at least seven sites on which Maryland Historical Trust archaeologist have been working - mostly in the field but also in the lab.

The field work included the geophysical results of the work MHT did at Maxwell Hall in Charles County during 2021.  But there was also field work looking for two French and Indian War sites, finding perplexing geophysical data at White Hall in Anne Arundel County,  and discovering a native American site with Vinette I pottery (which will be investigated at this year's ASM Field Session).

MHT holds lab on most Tuesdays at Crownsville, and Zac talked about cataloging older lithics collections stored in the MAC Lab.   This included lithics collected by Bob Ogle in the Zekiah Swamp region of Charles County during the mid to late twentieth century

And, of course, Zac talked about fluted points as well as other points found in Maryland.  Overall it was an interesting and informative talk.

Dr. Zachary Singer is the State Terrestrial Archaeologist at the Maryland Historical Trust.
