Once again Annetta Schott, one of CCASM's members, has donated items to the Charles County Archaeological Society of Maryland, Inc.  There were two interesting books as well as a number of publications and journals that will be added to our library.  The picture on right shows these as well as a whetstone, line level ruler, compass, and loupe.  Not pictured are various office supplies such as pencils, pens, and rulers.

Annetta Schott, one of CCASM's newest members, has donated a Soil Sampler Probe to the Charles County Archaeological Society of Maryland, Inc.  We've already had an opportunity for using it at the Native American site on which CCASM is working.

Thank You for the Curatorial Bags

Andrew Garte of Garte & Associates in Shady Side, Maryland, has donated 2800 curatorial bags of different sizes to Charles County Archaeological Society of Maryland, Inc.

Thanks to Sheila Smith

CCASM would like to thank Sheila Smith for her generous donation.

As she requested, CCASM is using the money to fund a grant for Peter Quantock's magnetometer and ground penetrating radar research in Port Tobacco Village.

CCASM appreciates their efforts in increasing the archaeological knowledge of Charles County.

(Peter is currently working on a Masters in Anthropology at the University of Denver.   He was a charter member of CCAS and part of the Port Tobacco Archaeological Project.)

May 7 Garage Sale to Benefit CCASM

The Garage Sale was a success.  Jane Keller organized the Garage Sale that was held May 7, and the proceeds were donated to Charles County Archaeological Society of Maryland, Inc. (CCASM).

We would like to thank Jane for all her fund-raising efforts.  Also we want to thank all the CCASM members as well as all of Jane's neighbors who donated the money from their sale items to CCASM.

October 2 Garage Sale to Benefit CCAS

Thank You for the Munsell Soil Color Chart Book

New Munsell Soil Color Charts

A person who wants to remain anonymous has donated money for CCAS to purchase a new Munsell Soil Color Charts book.

We have already used it for the excavations at the Burch House.  It will also be used as CCAS gets more opportunities to do field work.

For those of you familiar with the Munsell book, you will notice this is a new edition with much nicer pages, ones from which the paint chips will not be falling off.
